The Importance of Physical Fitness
Clearing the Preliminary Written Test is only half the battle. To secure a position in the Telangana Police Force, candidates must pass the rigorous Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). For certain posts (like Armed Reserve and SPF), your performance in the PET actively contributes to your final merit score.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT) Standards
Candidates who submit the Part-II application will undergo the PMT. The height requirements are strict:
- Men (General): Minimum height of 167.6 cm.
- Women (General): Minimum height of 152.5 cm.
- Relaxations apply for ST and Aboriginal Tribe candidates from specific Agency Areas. Check the official notification for precise details.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Events
The PET consists of running, long jump, and shot-put events. The standards differ based on gender and the specific post applied for.
1. Running Event (1600m / 800m)
The running event is qualifying for Civil posts but carries merit marks for Armed Reserve (AR) and Special Protection Force (SPF) posts.
- Men: 1600 meters run. Must be completed within 7 minutes 15 seconds (9 minutes 30 seconds for Ex-Servicemen).
- Women: 800 meters run. Must be completed within 5 minutes 20 seconds.
2. Long Jump
- Men: Minimum distance of 4.00 meters (3.80 meters for Ex-Servicemen).
- Women: Minimum distance of 2.50 meters.
3. Shot Put
- Men (7.26 Kg): Minimum distance of 6.00 meters (5.60 meters for Ex-Servicemen).
- Women (4.00 Kg): Minimum distance of 4.00 meters.
