The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board has released the TSLPRB Police Constable Driver and Mechanic Recruitment 2026 notification for 27 vacancies in the Telangana Police Department.
The recruitment drive includes seven SCT Police Constable Mechanic posts under Post Code 35 and 20 SCT Police Constable Driver posts under Post Code 36. Only male candidates are eligible to apply for these technical posts.
The notification was issued on July 29, 2026. Exact dates for the submission of online applications have not yet been announced. TSLPRB will publish the application schedule separately through an official press release.

Who can apply for the TSLPRB technical constable posts?
Only male candidates can apply for Post Code 35 and Post Code 36. Applicants must satisfy the prescribed age, educational, technical, physical and medical conditions before submitting the online application.
Candidature will remain provisional at every stage. TSLPRB will verify the information provided in the application against the candidate's original documents.
Age limit for TSLPRB Driver and Mechanic posts
Police Constable Mechanic age limit
For Post Code 35, candidates must have completed 18 years and must not have completed 22 years as on July 1, 2026.
Police Constable Driver age limit
For Post Code 36, candidates must have completed 21 years and must not have completed 25 years as on July 1, 2026.
The Telangana government has raised the upper age limit for direct recruitment to uniformed services by five years. This relaxation is in addition to the upper age limits prescribed above.
Age limit for eligible Home Guards
A candidate claiming eligibility as a Home Guard must have been on duty for at least 360 days within the two-year period preceding the notification and must still be continuing as a Home Guard.
- Post Code 35: The candidate must be between 18 and 40 years as on July 1, 2026.
- Post Code 36: The candidate must be between 21 and 40 years as on July 1, 2026.
The five-year increase in the upper age limit for uniformed services also applies in addition to the prescribed Home Guard upper age limit, subject to the notification conditions.

Employees of TS TRANSCO, DISCOMs, TS GENCO, the State Road Transport Corporation, municipalities, local bodies, public sector undertakings and other Telangana corporations are not covered under the age relaxation available to eligible State Government employees.
Educational qualification for Police Constable Mechanic
Candidates applying for Post Code 35 must have passed SSC or an examination recognised by the Telangana government as equivalent to SSC.
They must also possess an Industrial Training Institute certificate in any one of the following trades:
- Auto Electrician
- Mechanic Motor Vehicle
- Mechanic Diesel
- Fitter
The required qualification must have been obtained on or before July 29, 2026. Candidates must produce a consolidated marks memorandum or an equivalent pass certificate during certificate verification.
Candidates possessing a higher qualification will also be considered on par with candidates possessing the prescribed qualification, subject to satisfying the notification conditions.
Educational and driving licence requirements for Police Constable Driver
Candidates applying for Post Code 36 must possess either of the following academic qualifications as on July 29, 2026:
- Intermediate or an examination recognised as equivalent by the State Board of Intermediate Education; or
- SSC or an equivalent examination along with an ITI certificate in Auto Electrician, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel or Fitter.
Driving licence requirement
Driver-post applicants must possess a valid Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicle licence and a Heavy Goods Vehicle or Transport Vehicle licence as on July 29, 2026.
The driving licence must remain valid at the time of the driving test. Candidates must also produce driving licence information relating to the grant or issue of the licence from the concerned Regional Transport Authority during certificate verification.
Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test
There is no Preliminary Written Test for the Police Constable Driver and Mechanic posts. Candidates will first undergo the prescribed Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test.

Long jump and shot-put are qualifying events. The PMT and PET will be conducted only once for candidates applying for eligible posts covered by TSLPRB notifications issued within the specified three-month period.
Trade test for Police Constable Mechanic
Candidates applying for Post Code 35 who qualify in the physical tests must appear for a 100-mark trade test. They must secure at least 50 marks in aggregate.
Each of the ten parameters carries 10 marks, with five marks prescribed as the minimum for each parameter. A candidate who scores below the required minimum in three or more parameters will be treated as having failed, even if he secures 50 marks in aggregate.

Driving test for Police Constable Driver
Candidates applying for Post Code 36 who qualify in the physical tests must appear for a 100-mark driving test. A minimum of 50 marks must be secured in aggregate.
The test consists of eight parameters. Candidates scoring below the prescribed minimum in three or more parameters will be considered unsuccessful, even when they obtain 50 marks overall.

Written examination pattern
Candidates who qualify in the respective trade or driving test will be called for the written examination.

The examination will be objective and OMR-based. Questions will be set in English, and candidates must mark their answers using a blue or black ball-point pen.
Minimum qualifying marks
- OC and EWS candidates: 40 per cent.
- BC candidates: 35 per cent.
- SC, ST and ex-servicemen: 30 per cent.
Qualifying marks alone do not guarantee selection. Candidates must attend every prescribed test and examination, and absence from any stage will result in disqualification.

The Post Code 35 technical syllabus covers automobile fundamentals and the working principles of two-stroke and four-stroke spark-ignition and compression-ignition engines.

TSLPRB Driver and Mechanic selection process
The selection process will include the following stages:
- Part-I online application.
- Part-II application and document upload.
- Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test.
- Trade test for Mechanic candidates or driving test for Driver candidates.
- Technical written examination.
- Certificate verification.
- Medical examination and antecedent verification.
- Final selection and induction training.
Final selection for the Mechanic post will be based on the aggregate score obtained in the trade test and written examination.
Final selection for the Driver post will be based on the aggregate score obtained in the driving test and written examination.
When two or more candidates in the same category secure equal marks, preference will be given to the candidate who was born earlier.
How to apply online
Applications must be submitted through the official TSLPRB website at www.tgprb.in. Candidates must first register using their mobile number, which will function as their user ID throughout the recruitment process.
Applicants must select the relevant post, pay the applicable fee and complete the Part-I application. They must upload a combined image containing a recent passport-size photograph and specimen signature.
The combined photograph and signature file must be in JPG format and must be between 30 KB and 100 KB. An application containing a photograph without a signature will be rejected.
Paying the fee alone does not complete the application. Candidates must press the final submit button and download the submitted application form for future reference.
Since there is no preliminary written examination for these technical posts, candidates will later have to submit the Part-II application and upload supporting documents before the physical tests. The Part-II schedule will be announced separately.
No corrections will be permitted after the application has been submitted. Candidates should therefore verify all information carefully before final submission.
Application fee and multiple-post rebate
The notification does not state a fixed application fee amount. The amount payable will be displayed on the online portal based on the candidate's category and selected posts.
Local SC and ST candidates of Telangana will be charged the prescribed concessional fee. Candidates applying for more than one eligible TSLPRB post can receive a rebate because their physical tests will be conducted only once.
- Local Telangana SC and ST candidates: ₹50 rebate for each additional post.
- Other candidates: ₹100 rebate for each additional post.
The fee may be paid using a credit card, debit card, net banking or another payment method made available on the official portal.

Special-category quotas are available only to eligible local candidates of Telangana. The reservations will be adjusted horizontally within the candidate's respective social category.
The Children of Police Personnel quota applies to eligible children of Police Constables up to Inspectors serving, retired or deceased in the Telangana Police Department. The benefit is limited to the first two children in a family.

Medical standards
Candidates must possess distant vision of 6/6 in both eyes and near vision of 0/5 in each eye. Each eye must have a full field of vision.
Colour blindness, squint or a morbid condition of either eye or eyelid will be treated as a disqualification. Candidates must also be in sound health and free from physical defects or medical conditions that would make them unsuitable for the posts.
Aspirants have been advised to undergo an examination by a civil surgeon before applying to ensure that they satisfy the prescribed physical and medical standards.
