The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board has released the TSLPRB SI Recruitment 2026 notification for 275 Sub Inspector and allied vacancies across the Telangana Police, Special Protection Force, Fire Services and Prisons departments.
The recruitment includes SCT Sub Inspector of Police Civil, Reserve Sub Inspector, Special Protection Force Sub Inspector, Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor posts. Both male and female candidates are eligible for several posts, while certain vacancies are restricted to men or women.
The notification was issued on July 29, 2026. Exact opening and closing dates for online applications have not yet been announced. TSLPRB will publish the application schedule separately through an official press release.

TSLPRB SI age limit
Candidates must have completed 21 years and must not have completed 25 years as on July 1, 2026.
The Telangana government has raised the upper age limit prescribed for direct recruitment to uniformed services by five years. This relaxation is in addition to the normal upper age limit. Accordingly, the general upper age limit effectively extends to 30 years, subject to the conditions stated in the notification.

Employees of TS TRANSCO, DISCOMs, TS GENCO, the State Road Transport Corporation, municipalities, local bodies, public sector undertakings and other Telangana corporations are not covered under the relaxation available to eligible State Government employees.
Educational qualification
Candidates must possess a degree awarded by a recognised Indian university or institution as on July 29, 2026. An equivalent qualification recognised by the competent authority will also be accepted.
The degree certificate, provisional certificate or consolidated marks memorandum covering the complete duration of the course must have been issued on or before July 29, 2026 and must be produced during certificate verification.
Candidates possessing a higher qualification will be considered on par with those possessing the prescribed degree, provided they satisfy every other eligibility condition.
Distance education degrees
Candidates who obtained their degree through an open university or distance-education mode must ensure that the programme and institution were recognised by the University Grants Commission, AICTE, Distance Education Council or another relevant statutory authority.
The responsibility for proving that the qualification was properly recognised rests with the candidate.
Additional qualification for Station Fire Officer
Candidates applying for Post Code 17 must possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle driving licence as on July 29, 2026.
Station Fire Officer applicants must produce valid driving-licence information relating to the grant or issue of the licence from the concerned Regional Transport Authority during certificate verification.
TSLPRB SI selection process
The recruitment process will include the following stages:
- Submission of the Part-I online application.
- Preliminary Written Test.
- Submission of the Part-II application by qualified candidates.
- Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test.
- Final Written Examination consisting of four papers.
- Certificate verification.
- Medical examination and antecedent verification.
- Final selection and induction training.
Appearance in every prescribed test and examination is compulsory. A candidate who is absent from any stage will be disqualified. Requests for postponement or reconsideration of the PMT or PET will not be accepted.
Preliminary Written Test pattern
All eligible registered candidates must appear for one Preliminary Written Test paper of three hours' duration.

The Preliminary Written Test will be objective and OMR-based. Questions will be set in English–Telugu and English–Urdu.
Preliminary Written Test qualifying marks
- OC and EWS candidates: 30 per cent.
- BC candidates: 25 per cent.
- SC, ST and ex-servicemen: 20 per cent.
The preliminary examination carries negative marking. An incorrect or invalid response will attract a penalty equal to 20 per cent of the marks allotted to that question.

Arithmetic and reasoning
The arithmetic section includes the number system, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, averages, percentages, profit and loss, time and work, wages, time and distance, clocks, calendars, partnership and mensuration.
The reasoning section includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, judgement, decision-making and visual memory.
General Studies
The General Studies section covers:
- General science and developments in science and technology.
- Environmental issues and matters of everyday observation.
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India, including the Indian National Movement.
- Principles of geography and the geography of India.
- Indian polity and economy.
- Rural development, planning and economic reforms.
- Telangana Movement and State Formation from 1948 to 2014.
Physical Efficiency Test standards

The run is qualifying in nature for SI Civil, Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor posts.
Performance marks will be awarded in the running event for Reserve SI Armed Reserve, Reserve SI SAR CPL, Reserve SI TGSP and SPF Sub Inspector posts.
For Reserve SI Armed Reserve and SPF Sub Inspector posts, the marks obtained by male and female candidates in the running test will be normalised while preparing the final common merit list.

Long jump and shot-put are qualifying in nature. Physical test readings may be used for other eligible TSLPRB posts covered by notifications issued within the specified three-month period.
Final Written Examination pattern
Candidates who qualify in the physical tests must appear for four Final Written Examination papers. Each paper will have a duration of three hours.

Papers I and II are qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in these language papers will not be counted while preparing the final merit list.
Part A of Papers I and II consists of 50 objective questions carrying 25 marks. Part B is a descriptive examination carrying 75 marks.
An incorrect or invalid response in the objective portion of Papers I and II will attract a negative mark equal to 25 per cent of the marks assigned to the question.
Final examination qualifying marks
- OC and EWS candidates: 40 per cent in each paper.
- BC candidates: 35 per cent in each paper.
- SC, ST and ex-servicemen: 30 per cent in each paper.
Final examination syllabus
Paper I: English
The qualifying English paper will be of SSC or Matriculation standard. The objective section covers usage, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and other language skills.
The descriptive section includes précis writing, letters, reports, essays, topical paragraphs and reading comprehension.
Paper II: Telugu or Urdu
Candidates must choose either Telugu or Urdu. The option selected will be final and cannot be changed later.

Paper III: Arithmetic and reasoning
Paper III includes the number system, interest, percentages, profit and loss, ratios, averages, time and work, time and distance, mensuration, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, analysis, judgement, decision-making and related mental-ability topics.
Paper IV: General Studies
Paper IV covers general science, science and technology, environmental issues, current affairs, Indian history, the national movement, geography, Indian polity, the economy, rural development, planning, economic reforms and the Telangana Movement and State Formation.
How will final selection be made?
Final selection rules vary according to the post code.
- SI Civil: Selection will be based on the combined marks obtained in Papers III and IV.
- Reserve SI Armed Reserve: Selection will be based on Papers III and IV along with normalised running-test marks.
- Reserve SI SAR CPL: Selection will be based on Papers III and IV and the 1,600-metre run score.
- Reserve SI TGSP: Selection will be based on Papers III and IV and the 1,600-metre run score.
- SPF Sub Inspector: Selection will be based on Papers III and IV along with normalised running-test marks.
- Station Fire Officer: Selection will be based on the combined marks obtained in Papers III and IV.
- Deputy Jailor: Selection will be based on the combined marks obtained in Papers III and IV.
The notification provides 95 per cent local-candidate reservation in the relevant zones or Contiguous Zonal Cadres for SI Civil, Reserve SI Armed Reserve, Reserve SI TGSP, Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor posts.
The local-cadre provisions do not apply to the SAR CPL and SPF Sub Inspector selections. However, candidates seeking reservation benefits for these posts must satisfy the Telangana local-candidate and community-certificate requirements mentioned in the notification.
When two or more candidates in the same category obtain equal marks, preference will be given to the candidate who was born earlier.
How to apply for TSLPRB SI recruitment
Applications must be submitted online through the official TSLPRB website at www.tgprb.in. Candidates must register using their mobile number, which will function as the user ID throughout the recruitment process.
Applicants must select their eligible posts, pay the applicable fee and complete the Part-I online application.
A combined image containing the candidate's recent passport-size photograph and specimen signature must be uploaded. The image must be in JPG format and should be between 30 KB and 100 KB.
Applications containing a photograph without a signature will be rejected. Payment of the fee alone does not complete the application process. Candidates must press the final submit button and download their submitted application form.
Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Written Test must return to the portal and submit the Part-II application along with the required documents.
Post preferences and unit options entered in the Part-II application will be final. Corrections will not be permitted after submission.
Application fee and multiple-post rebate
The notification does not specify a fixed application fee amount. The fee payable will be displayed on the online portal according to the candidate's category and selected posts.
Local SC and ST candidates of Telangana will be charged the prescribed concessional fee. Candidates applying for more than one eligible TSLPRB post may receive a rebate because their physical tests will be conducted only once.
- Local Telangana SC and ST candidates: ₹50 rebate for every additional post.
- Other candidates: ₹100 rebate for every additional post.
The application fee may be paid using a credit card, debit card, net banking or another mode made available on the TSLPRB portal.
Reservation for women
The notification provides horizontal reservation for women in the following posts:
- SI Civil: 33⅓ per cent of vacancies in each category, including EWS.
- SPF Sub Inspector: 33⅓ per cent.
- Station Fire Officer: 33⅓ per cent.
- Reserve SI Armed Reserve: 10 per cent under direct recruitment.
The Deputy Jailor Women post has one separately notified vacancy. Reserve SI SAR CPL, Reserve SI TGSP and Deputy Jailor Men posts are open only to male candidates.

Medical standards
Candidates must possess distant vision of 6/6 in both eyes and near vision of 0/5 in each eye. Each eye must have a full field of vision.
Colour blindness, squint or a morbid condition affecting either eye or eyelid will be treated as a disqualification.
Candidates must also be in sound health and free from bodily defects or medical conditions that would make them unsuitable for the notified posts. Aspirants have been advised to undergo an examination by a civil surgeon before applying.
