A Major Boost for Aspirants
In a significant move, the Telangana government has raised the upper age limit prescribed for direct recruitment to uniformed services by five years. This relaxation applies to the upcoming TSLPRB 2026 recruitment, offering a golden opportunity for many older aspirants to serve in the police force.
Age Limits for Police Constable (PC)
For standard Police Constable posts (Civil, AR, SPF, Fire Fighter, Warder):
- Base Age: Must be between 18 and 22 years as on July 1, 2026.
- With 5-Year Relaxation: The effective general upper age limit is now 27 years.
Age Limits for Sub Inspector (SI)
For standard Sub Inspector posts (Civil, AR, SPF, Station Fire Officer, Deputy Jailor):
- Base Age: Must be between 21 and 25 years as on July 1, 2026.
- With 5-Year Relaxation: The effective general upper age limit is now 30 years.
Additional Category-wise Age Relaxations
The 5-year blanket relaxation is in addition to standard category relaxations. However, these special-category relaxations are generally available only to eligible local candidates of Telangana.
- SC, ST, BC, and EWS candidates: Generally receive an additional 5-year relaxation over the base limits.
- Telangana State Government Employees: Subject to specific rules, eligible employees can receive relaxations based on their length of regular service (up to a maximum of 5 years). Note: Employees of TS TRANSCO, DISCOMs, RTC, etc., are usually excluded from this specific clause.
- Ex-Servicemen, NCC Instructors: Specific relaxations apply based on service length.
- Widows/Divorced Women: Special upper age limits apply (up to 40 years for SC/ST and 35 years for others, plus the new 5-year relaxation).
